Out in the Bush, especially in the North, the Axe is one of the most important tools an outdoorsman can have. There are many styles, lengths, makes, and types.
In this camp there will be something for beginners all the way to experts. Chopping, splitting, restoration and maintenance classes will be covered as well as small axe and hatchet use, and how it applies to a wilderness situation.
Axecraft Camp will be facilitated by several individuals throughout the event. Each person will present skills and teaching techniques that they have found valuable through their educational programes.
The following individuals will be presenting throughout the week:
Ben Piersma, Julia Kalthoff, Caleb Musgrave
Caleb Musgrave’s Sessions

Introduction to the benefits, and detriments of the axes of our ancestors. Use of several stones, copper and bronze axes, along with discussions and comparisons.
Breaking the Rules
In this workshop, we will do some pretty wild stuff with axes. From using green wood as a handle, to breaking the number one axe sin everyone seems to know; burning the handle out of the eye.
